Welcome
Hello, I'm R. Slade Walters, welcome to sladewalters.com, my online bio and portfolio site.
If you found this site, I hope it gives you some insight into who I am and what I do. If you have any questions about what you find here, feel free to drop me a line. I will try to get back to you when I have some time.
Bio (?!)
I was born in the Northeast U.S. and moved to the Southeast when I was fairly young. I grew up in the south but my family were clearly Yankees. Let's just say that I like grits, sweet tea and pastrami on rye.
I joined the U.S. Air Force just out of high school, got married when I was 19 (I'm still married to the same girl) and deployed to Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War. I got out of the Air Force in the early 1990's.
After I got out of the Air Force I took a job at a recording studio where I learned how professional media production was generally done. In 1995, I took a job at WSRE TV, a PBS affiliate in Pensacola, Florida. About a year later, I accepted a position at a film and video post production company in Nashville, TN.
In 1998, I started a multimedia production company with a partner. In a few years we grew into a full-fledged advertising, marketing and public relations firm servingm primarily the Nashville entertainment and publishing industries.
In 2004, to get away from the long hours that tend to inherently come with advertising and production, I took a job as the Creative Director for a record label group.
in 2005, I took a job working for the U.S. Army and have been with the Army ever since in a few different positions that have brought me from Fort Rucker, Alabama to as far away as Yongsan Garrison in Seoul, Republic of Korea, to the Headquarters of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command in San Antonio, Texas.
Now I work in Public Affairs at Camp Zama near Tokyo, Japan. I have enjoyed having the ability to travel for my job in the last few years and I hope to travel more in the years to come.
About This Site
I've designed this site to try to give a good overview of my technical and creative skills. I hope what also comes across is that I enjoy productive, outside-of-the-box thinking in both my personal and professional life.

I take photos and make short videos for fun. I like to build unusual vehicle fabrication projects. I have 35 hours of private pilot training and hope to get my Private Pilot Certification sometime in the not-too-distant future. I am a musician and singer.
